Congratulations to the eight winners of the 2003 Draw Attention to Hunger Art contest sponsored by ShopRite Partners In Caring, ShopRite's hunger fighting initiative.
The artwork of the eight winners was chosen from hundreds of entries created by third, fourth and fifth grade students. An educational resource and contest materials were provided to teachers in the five states that ShopRite serves – New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware – in an effort to help children understand the issue of hunger and how it affects people in their communities. Entries were judged on originality, use of color, appropriateness to message and clarity.
The grand prize winner received a $1000 savings bond and the seven first place winners were each awarded savings bonds worth $250. The winning students were also presented with awards recognizing their commitment to the fight against hunger.
