ShopRite Partners In Caring helps provide much needed funds to more than 1700 charities in the communities ShopRite serves, including Elijah’s Promise. The charity is dedicated to empowering those living in poverty and strives to not only feed the stomach, but the mind and soul as well.
Since Elijah's Promise began in 1989, the organization has been helping low-income people in the central New Jersey community. From nutritious meals, to social services and health screening, to culinary arts job training and entrepreneurial training, to our own catering business, Elijah's Promise has been moving people from hunger to wholeness.
The soup kitchen feeds more than 300 people a day and even provides bag meals for people who are working or who are unable to make it to the soup kitchen during regular hours. The organization also offers job training programs that give participants the knowledge they need to secure a job in the food service industry. The program offers classes both during the day and in the evening to meet the needs of community members, no matter what their existing work schedule.
The Elijah’s Promise also provides health clinics and clothing for those in need. Its “Fresh is Best” program provides perishable and nonperishable foods for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. For more information on Elijah’s Promise visit their Web site at www.elijahspromise.net.
